Asilah is a sleeping fishing town in northern Morocco. It has its own seductive charm with a restored medina that has bright tones of blue and white paint that fill the walls. It is an ideal place to see the coolest beach life in Morocco. It was occupied by Romans, Arabs, Portuguese, Spanish and French. Many famous writers and artists have spent time here. Artists such as Paul Bowles, Tennessee William, Edith Wharton, Jean Genet, William Burroughs, Jimi Hendrix, and Henri Matisse have all found this small town inspiring, so now we have called Asilah the city of painters and all these young artists, Painters from all over the world come to Asilah every year for a week to graffiti the walls of the old medina and Kasbah and also to advertise their paintings at the festival that is held at the Kasbah Palace in the old city of Asilah.
